Annual Wreath Laying Ceremony of the Royal British Legion (Ireland) at Islandbridge

Although the Irish National War Memorial Gardens were first conceived in 1919 following WW1, its inauguration and formal dedication was delayed until July 2006. An interesting and informative background to the development of the war memorial gardens is available to read online at Wikepedia.

The Annual Wreath Laying Ceremony is hosted by the Royal British Legion Ireland on the Saturday afternoon (the Saturday nearest July 11th)  prior to Ireland's National Day of Commemoration.
At this ceremony the Leinster Regiment Association lays a wreath to all the Regiment's Irish Soldiers who died during WW1.

The ceremony is open to the public.
